Hold on to the Vision

by Gaby Santiago

Obstacles will arise, but we must hold on to the vision that God has given us and believe that it will come to pass in its appointed time. God gives us 𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 to 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞 through our setbacks. Hold on to the vision.

I have noticed in my own life that God tends to give me a vision before trials and tests happen. The vision may come in a dream or during my prayer time. Sometimes, the vision is shown to someone else and shared with me or spoken directly to me while I am in the word of God.

God gives us a vision so that we know where we are running to. Our dark valleys can make us forget what the end journey will look like. It’s during these moments that we must hold on to the vision God has given to us. God shows us a glimpse of what is to come so that we would continue to walk by faith and not give in to discouragement.

Hebrews 10:36 says, “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

We can only receive God’s promises if we choose to persevere. During times of testing, it can be easy for us to give up and turn away from God. However, we must fall on God and allow His strength to carry us through.

God gives us a vision of what is to come so that we would persevere.

Though our present circumstances may give us a million reasons to not believe in the vision, we must continue to move forward in faith and remember that God always keeps His promises. God says in Habakkuk 2:2-3, “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed timeit hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

We live in a society where we want everything to happen instantly. However, God’s ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8). God cares about our hearts and sees things that we cannot see. His ways are always done in ways we would never expect, and His timing won’t always match our own. We can take heart, however, that His timing is the best and that He will do what He promises.

In the Bible, we see Joseph as an example of one who held on to the vision God gave him and persevered. In Genesis 37, Joseph was given a dream where he saw God lifting him up before all men. However, after receiving this dream, he was sold as a slave by his brothers and lived as a slave for at least 20 years before his dream came to pass. Though he went through many testings, the day came when he was invited to live in the palace and serve right under Pharaoh.

David is another example in the Bible who went through much testing before God’s promise for his life came to pass. The prophet Samuel came and prophesied David to be the king over Israel. However, David ended up running for his life from King Saul who for many years tried to kill him. The day surely came, however, when David would reign as king over Israel.

Through the life of Joseph, David, and many others, we can see God’s faithfulness to bring His promises to pass. Though the vision may seem to be in delay, trust that it will come in its appointed time.

If God came through for Joseph, David, and myself, He will surely come through for you.

Continue to put your hope in who God is. He is a faithful and loving Father who longs to lavish us with all His blessings. Isaiah 40:31 says, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” So remember, hold on to the vision.
